Having grown up on the south coast in Hampshire, I moved to Hertfordshire in the early 1980s to undertake a business degree. On graduating, at the age of 24, I found myself
running services for the homeless in London, which turned out to be an amazing opportunity and a good grounding for learning about leadership, mental health, poverty, addiction, abuse and trauma amongst other things.
I then moved on to work for Kent probation service before
doing an MA in Social Work. After qualifying I had leadership roles in a substance misuse charity and leaving care services.
In 2006, I joined The Children’s Society as an Assistant Director where I lead a diverse range of services as well as having responsibility for business development, quality
assurance, safeguarding and policy work. It was here that I trained as an Executive Coach and Leadership Mentor as well as an NLP practitioner. Together with other colleagues, we
established the organisation’s internal coaching service, and my lifelong joy of coaching began. Prior to becoming a self-employed coach, I subsequently had roles as a strategic
Director at the National Deaf Children’s Society and Head of Young Carers at Carers Trust.
Since 2020, I am a self-employed Coach running my own Executive and Leadership coaching business. I subsequently qualified as a Coach Supervisor which I love as it is a joy to develop new and experienced Coaches. I regularly facilitate group supervision sessions, co-coaching groups and am involved in assessing coaches on behalf of the Association for Coaching.
On a personal note, I love travelling and I have been to over 68 countries and have so many more to visit! For
me, the best part of travel is not the places I go but the people I meet, some of my closest friends are people I have met along the way.
When not travelling or coaching, I participate in local improv groups which are fun and scary in equal measures. I am also a volunteer for the Samaritans festival branch which means I
am often to be found in a muddy field during the summer months listening to people who may be in emotional distress or affected by suicide.
As for the future, I love to continuingly develop and learn and am looking forward to many new adventures.
